Laura Engels no more… prairie styles are in full force this summer season starting with skirts but not to be outdone by flowing pieces on top.  Lending to the laid back style are accessories, shoes and pieces that only the modish can master.  Flowing skirts topped with light floral tops, maxi dresses belted at the waist, off the shoulder blouson tops with short shorts, the list goes on and on and the possibilities are endless…  Denim jackets and over-sized sweaters are the perfect touch to add some cool to an already hot trend.

Accessories are just as major including feathers in every shape and size, hair bands worn ala Pocahontas style, leather bands around the wrist and layered chains that fall mid torso.  The look is laid back, cool and sophisticated with a twist of edge.  The light layers and fluid fabrics make for a cool trend on a hot summer day!

Be unpredictable from the waist down with sandals that include ankle straps, fringe, neutrals and ties.  Birkenstocks beware as this look generates a hippie nation.  Hair should be easy, breezy including beach waves, long layers, slicked back or braided envy.

Western influences also add to this trend, so don’t be afraid to take the boots and cowboy hat along for the ride!
